Free Narcan can be accessed at all Chicago Public Library locations. Overdose prevention kits are available throughout Chicago in wall-mounted Harm Reduction boxes. ANYONE can visit a box and pick up Narcan for FREE. 

Illinois' Overdose Education and Naloxone Distribution (OEND) services sites across the state offer overdose prevention training and distribute naloxone free of charge.

The state’s NARCAN® Direct Program distributes at no cost to those who access naloxone at  participating pharmacies or state agencies.

The Grand Rapids Red Project distributes free Naloxone Rescue Kits at locations in Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon, and Allegan counties. ​

A Narcan vending machine is available in Dearborn in the lobby of the John D. Dingell Transit Center.

Overdose Lifeline provides free naloxone via distribution center pick up, NaloxBox/Vending Machine dispense, and mail-order. ​

The Ohio Department of Health is currently supplying Harm Reduction Ohio with enough of the overdose-reversing drug Narcan to fulfill all online orders at no cost to Ohio residents.​

Individuals can get free naloxone without a prescription from a local community-based pharmacy. ​

Residents can receive free naloxone sent to their home after a consultation with a  pharmacist from the University of Iowa's Tele-Naloxone program.

Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Statewide Standing Order allows pharmacists to dispense naloxone to anyone without a paper or electronic prescription. It also covers the cost of generic naloxone and NARCAN® Nasal Spray. 

All healthcare providers licensed to prescribe medications in Minnesota may prescribe naloxone, which can be filled at most pharmacies.

Naloxone is often available free of charge from organizations such as community-run Naloxone Access Points (NAPs), a program run by the Steve Rummler Hope Network.

Kansas residents and organizations need to complete a form to request no cost Naloxone kits from DCCCA (Developing Caring Communities Committed to Action.)​

Grand Forks Health Department offers a mail-based naloxone services are now available for North Dakota residents.

A prescriber may prescribe naloxone, directly or by standing order, to a person at risk of overdose or a family member, friend, or other person able to help someone experiencing an overdose.

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services partnered with a handful of pharmacies across the state to distribute naloxone free of charge without a prescription. ​

Take-home naloxone kits are available at most pharmacies. A prescription is not needed. Some provinces offer free take-home naloxone kits.

In Canada, two types of take-home kits are available:

Naloxone nasal spray and a Naloxone injectable.
